BREAKING NEWS IN MEQUON, WI

I can't believe I go to school in this ridiculous town! It's really sad that this is the ONLY news in Mequon, WI. Kelly and I have been following this story for weeks now, and truth be told, I'm a little sad that it's been resolved...it was way too much fun to read about!

Wrong-side Mailbox Issue Resolved

Mequon - The U.S. Postal Service has reversed course and will deliver mail on John and Sue Conway's side of the street.

The Conways have been fighting for months with the Thiensville post office, which also serves Mequon, over mail delivery to their home, the first in the new Concord Creek subdivision.

After the couple put up their mailbox at the end of their driveway, the post office told them the box was on the wrong side of the street and their mail would not be delivered until the box was moved to the other side.

At one point, a post office supervisor threatened to mark the Conways' mail "return to sender."

On Wednesday, however, Postal Service spokeswoman Stephanie Schuelke in Milwaukee confirmed that postal authorities had changed their mind and will deliver mail on the Conways' side of the street.

In terms of safety and efficiency, it doesn't really matter which side of the street is chosen for the mailboxes, and the Conways were there first, Schuelke said.

The Conways were mostly happy with the news.

"We had hoped for (delivery on) both sides of the road for everyone, and we didn't get that, but we felt that this was the next best answer," Sue Conway said.

After the Conways moved in, another family arrived and planted a mailbox - fortunately, on what is now the right side of the street.

But a third family across the street from the Conways has their mailbox on what is now the wrong side of the street, although it in only temporary digs on a sawhorse.

"I don't know how this customer will react," Schuelke said. "There is not going to be a complete win-win for everybody."
