our first christmas (decorating) together

It's a little incredible to think that a year ago today, Kelly and I were decorating our first Christmas tree in the Gronewald living room. Today we did the same, only this time in our own living room and with our very own tree. Call us Christmas saps, but we've spent the whole evening decorating the apartment for the Season, with Christmas movies playing in the background.

My oh my, how much can change in a year.

We're definitely amateurs at this . . . earlier today, we were at Target buying Christmas lights (tipping my hat to my old Haven days). Well how are newlyweds supposed to know how many lights it takes to fill a tree? 300 sounds good, right? Well, it sounded good to us -- until we got home to find they filled only a good quarter of the tree. And back to the store we went . . . .

This is the ornament we bought at the Christmas store at Magic Kingdom on our honeymoon -- appropriately the first ornament we hung! (Calling all English majors: is it hung or hanged?)

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas . . . (!!)

It probably looks more like Christmas for us northerners since we have SNOW on the ground. It is good to know that the couch still holds its spot and that the tree found a good spot as well.

The tree looks great!! Our house is still all Thanksgiving-y. The family will decorate after the 1st of December. As Justin said, the shopping yesterday was swell because the snow and the music made it appropriate for Christmas shopping.

I'm glad that ornament was the first one you hung.

Justin and Jess:

Do you see any other familiar "ornaments" on the tree?

Your tree is very pretty. The Mickey & Minnie ornament is perfect. I especially like the red ribbon around the tree. Is that the one we saw at the Michael's checkout?

(I see several familiar ornaments and a certain familiar tree skirt!)
