As the school year buzzes by, I don’t get the chance to watch many movies. But when that chance comes, K & I usually don’t waste our time with new releases. Very, very seldom do I run across one that I actually like; afterwards I usually regret that we didn’t pull a time-tested Cary Grant or Judy Garland flick off the shelves. Or even just another episode of Gilmore Girls.
But now that summer’s come, I tried testing the new release waters again. And—I’m happy to report—I’ve had some luck! So I thought I’d share my findings. (But please don’t expect my reviews to be as great as these amazing reviews!)
The Queen
I’m really kicking myself now. This was showing at the Oriental Theatre in Milwaukee, and K & I were looking for the “perfect” last movie to see there. And this would have been perfect! But I thought it looked BORING.
Well it isn’t. Go see it!
Good Night and Good Luck
This is a HOT movie. It’s all about the Joseph McCarthy days and CBS’s reaction to his reports. It was directed by and stars George Clooney. The camera angles are brilliant. And the constant cigarette smoke on the screen makes you feel like you’ve been hurled back into the 50’s. *Sigh* If that could only happen…
Oceans 13
First of all, I think I’ve become a real George Clooney enthusiast. (That man is a stallion!) Second of all, I hate sequels. Much less trilogies!! I wasn’t at all a fan of Oceans 12, but this newest episode of the Oceans saga is a gem. No Julia, but somehow it’s amazing still the same.

I have to admit I'm a little offended that you thought we were WASTING OUR TIME with "Raising Helen"--at least there was a pastor and some cute kids! The only thing "Lawrence of Arabia" had was stinky camels walking through the desert for [what seemed like] hours and hours and hours.....
I rather enjoyed your movie reviews. Perhaps you should forsake being a pastor and write reviews for a living. Or you could do it on the side! I hope the time you took to watch these movies didn't take away too much time from your book reading.
